RS232

The RS232 thermometer has a Pt100 sensor and outputs the temperature measurements as RS232 signals. It is meant to be incorporated into another system, for example, in trucks, where these signals can be sent through GPRS or other, to record and keep track of remote fridges.

The new RS232 thermometer, although housed in our datalogger casing, does not log the data. Instead, it has an RS232 output that will work with a large range of RS232 equipment such as USB to serial converters, RS232 to IP servers and laptop serial ports. This temperature thermometer is designed especially for RS232 outputs.

The device is in a sturdy casing with size 64 × 30 × 105mm. It has a built-in battery to secure a reliable power supply independent of the RS232 connections.

The device can be made with different capabilites:

Inputs

  • PT100 sensor, ranges from -200 to +300 °C
  • Thermistor, range -40 to +100 °C
  • Themocouples type K, ranges from -100 to +1400 °C

Resolution: 0.1 °C

Accuracy: Please consult for specific range/version

Possibility for two sensors per device for some versions. Please enquire.

Sensor connections

For temperature range -40 to + 85 °C, sensor may be built into the casing. Otherwise, connector sensor on device.

RS232 output

Cable with 3 wires: device can be made water tight in this version.

RJ45 connector: device is not water tight.

Output

Simple command format: See example in data sheet for details.

The device can be supplied with display for indiciation of actual temperature.

Battery

½ AA 3.6V. Placed in battery holder for easy replacement. Estimated lifetime of battery depends on frequency of measurements. For one measurement per minute, the battery will last for more than three years for devices without display and for more than two years for devices with display.
